My name is Rick Mitchell, stage name: StatiQ Dj and I represent the dub step/ drum and bass and break beat world. My childhood was revolved around music, in almost every aspect. My father was a radio Dj with music knowledge that gave scholars a challenge.(Jordan Mitchell). My oldest brother has a band by the name ” Katagory V” and has been studying music/theory for over 2 decades, making him one of my personal favorite music writers.
Production has become an overwhelming hobby that has consumed my music soul. I produce dub-step/mid-tempo/drum and bass and anything with a broken beat. I have made multiple remixes not for club but to show respect to those artists that inspired me to put music at my for-front.
My new productions are unsigned and always breaking boundaries on what can be/should be or shouldn’t be used in electronic music.

1) The work has to be original. No samples that need to be cleared or remixes of anything. You may use samples but they must be duty free.
2) The song must be completed by dec. 1. this will give you about a month, that should be plenty of time 
This contest will be judged partly by us and partly by you.
1/3 of the vote is based on you guys!
1/3 is going to be judged by the drumstepforum.com mods
1/3 is going to be judged by the Generation Bass crew.
Now to the good stuff… the prize

I recently asked Dj Premium in a pm if he would like to do a mix for the series expecting a good mix but I didnt expect to get anything this amazing. I knew that he killed it with the production because of the tracks that he has posted in the forum in the past but i didnt know that he got behind the decks like he did. Not only did Premium bring some of the freshest tracks in the game but he did it with style. This mix will stay in your ipod and have you google searching all day trying to find some of these absolutely amazing tracks!
Dj Premium is carrying along the series with the same high standard as Dirty Deeds. THIS MIX IS NOT TO BE MISSED!!!

I’m not generally one for reviewing mixes but Drumstep pioneer duo Dirty Deeds had no problem turning me on to writing about new types of Media immediately after listening to their first ‘Drumstep Forum MiX’ front to back… and then back to the front again.
I was shocked to see how many original Drumstep tunes were sitting before me, particularly our Toronto-based producers that bring instant pride to being a Canadian electronic music enthusiast, Brockout and Stickbubbly.
The mix starts off with a tune by the lovely Miss Lea Luna remixed by Dirty Deeds themselves and rolls into a Rusko Remix by Sub Focus, which indeed sounded very familiar to me already. After rolling through a few unfamiliars Deeds then throw in a ridiculous remix of Kosheen’s ‘Hide U’ and then jolted me at Danny Thunders’ sudden and instantaneous vibe-switch to an oldschool bassline house feel, and alas, back into those grimey, wobbly, epic bassface sounds that make Drumstep so very appetizing.
After many amazing bang-on mixes including tracks by grime duo Dub Foundation (another personal favourite) and of course, Crissy Criss and his infamous ‘Kick Snare’ track (another drumstep remix), I couldn’t help but smile at the #25 Tune, ‘Too Hot for Drumstep’ by Wondawulf. This is a track that ended up on my Facebook wall not too long ago by another Drumstep admirer and continues to be a choice tune in my library as nothing makes a Drumstep tune more gangster than jazz hands. J’Adore.
Big up SDF1 and Blitz on thier first Drumstepforum.com MiX! This one has already gone viral and I certainly look forward to treating my ears to many more as well.
